About the Swedish Christmas Fair

SWEA Toronto's annual Swedish Christmas Fair started in 1982. For 37 years we held the Christmas Fair at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre. In 2019 we moved to a new venue at Daniels Spectrum in Toronto. During the Covid-pandemic restrictions in 2020 and 2021 we had to re-think and opened up our Swedish Christmas Fair webshop. Last year (2022) we once again sold food and candy through our webshop, but we are also held a live Christmas Fair. This year - 2023 - we planned to hold a hybrid event but unfortunately Artscape, the company that manages Daniel’s Spectrum, went in to receivership and there will be no live Swedish Christmas Fair.

We are of course saddened by this news but are working diligently to find a new home for the live Swedish Christmas Fair next year so that we can continue this popular cultural holiday experience in Toronto.

The good news is that we have found a new pickup location: 239 Scarlett Road, Toronto (near Eglinton and Jane). Pick-up time is 11 am - 5 pm on Saturday, November 18 and 11 am - 4 pm on Sunday, November 19.

If you have any questions, please email julmarknaden@sweatoronto.org.

Each year the Swedish Christmas Fair attracts thousands of people who come to enjoy the Swedish food at the Café, the Lucia procession, the Swedish Folk Dancers and Choir, the Childrens Loft with Crafts, the Book Corner, the yearly exhibit and of course the large selection of Swedish designed products. The large selection of Swedish food in the 'Mathörnan' or 'Taste of Sweden' as we also call it, provides the Scandinavian population and the adventurous Canadians with all the necessary items for their Christmas Smörgåsbord

The Swedish Christmas Fair is our largest fundraiser of the year. The money raised goes towards the yearly donations and scholarship program that SWEA Toronto supports each year. We support the Swedish Church, the Swedish School, the Swedish Folkdancers and Singers and also other Swedish related cultural in the GTA. Each year we award scholarships to Ontario students who have been accepted to study in a Swedish university. In 2022 we awarded $20,000 to ten students that studies at Ontario universities.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you again at a new venue for next year’s Swedish Christmas Fair. In the meantime, happy shopping online and we will see you on November 18-19!

Have a wonderful Christmas. God Jul.
